8 50 Mile Challenge

What is the 8.50 Challenge?
Do you know that one organ donor can save the lives of eight people and one tissue donor can save and heal the lives of more than fifty people? We want to honor donor heroes. The 8.50 Challenge is a new challenge for the 2021 Gift of Life Walk & Run and every registered participant is encouraged to walk/run/bike/hike/treadmill/skate for 8.5 miles in support of organ, eye, and tissue donation.

Do it all in one day or do it over the course of 7 days – your choice.
(Between August 1- 8)
Since we are not limited to one morning to complete a course, you can take the challenge in your own timeframe. Track your progress toward 8.50 miles using your favorite tracking device, or using the GOLWR 8.50 log sheet. Some free tracking options include MapMyRun, Strava, and RunKeeper.

Make It Personal!
Celebrate a special person touched by donation or transplantation with an 8.50-Mile Challenge Bib that you can print and personalize! Don’t forget to snap a picture or two then share your accomplishment on a favorite social media platform with a request for friends to become a registered donor!

Let’s us know when you have completed the challenge. Email us your results at events@lifebanc.org!

See the name of all those who completed the challenge here after August 8th!

Stories

The stories of our donor and recipient families are powerful, moving celebrations of life, hope, and love that get to the heart of why we do what we do, and the difference we can all make. Lifebanc believes that anyone can be a hero – and we see it every day in the generous decisions of people and families who choose and support organ and tissue donation. We’d like you to meet some of these heroes, and some of the Northeast Ohio neighbors they are helping.
